Founded in 2011 on Johns Island, Seanachai has grown into a Charleston landmark with it’s signature cocktails, extensive whiskey list, and a Chef-driven menu with Irish classics and unique creations all their own. Owners Jason and Marissa Myers bought the Pub from founder Gerry Kieran in early 2019 after falling in love with the Johns Island establishment and everything it stands for. With a warm and welcoming interior and hand-built wooden bar, Seanachai focuses on elevated cocktail and food offerings while keeping the experience grounded and reasonable for their patrons. Always in the running for Johns Island’s Best Happy Hour, Seanachai also has nightly food and drink specials, unique Cocktails of the Week, and a Sunday Brunch that’s become ridiculously popular as of late.

With an effort to support local artists, artisans, farmers, purveyors, distillers, brewers, and craftsmen, Seanachai embraces the vibrant local community as much as possible. A large lush patio out back invites celebrating long into the night with a fire pit, darts, outdoor bar, and plenty of seating and space for children and dogs alike. This patio has also hosted some incredible music and fundraising events such as the Travelin’ Kine and the annual Veteran’s Day Oyster Roast in support of local Veteran’s group Vantage Point.

An 8-year Veteran of the Marine Corps infantry, Jason completed multiple peace-time deployments and three combat tours to Iraq before leaving the service in early 2007. After leaving the service Jason spent the better part of a decade in professional sports car racing working for Porsche, Mercedes AMG/McLaren, and Aston Martin Racing in the roles of team management, marketing, and communications. During this time Jason also attended the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone where he earned his culinary arts degree, then spent a number of years working with some of Sonoma and Napa county’s best restaurants and farms. He has a love for creating (and eating) great food and a true passion for whiskeys and cocktails. He volunteers with local Veteran groups as a consultant/advisor and as a peer counselor for the Warrior Surf Foundation.

Marissa was born and raised in Sonoma County, California and has been a hair stylist for 23 years. Marissa and Jason (mainly Marissa) ran/owned a popular salon with around 20 stylists/manicurists/estheticians in Santa Rosa, CA for years before moving to Johns Island. Marissa was also a professional ice skater and toured Europe early in her career. She still loves to skate as often as possible and frequently teaches lessons at the Carolina ice palace. She also works at Elysium salon downtown.

Jason and Marissa moved to Johns Island after losing their Sonoma County home during the October 2017 wildfires. They’ve loved and embraced the local community in as many ways as possible and appreciate all the love and support they’ve received since moving here and taking over Seanachai.
